A man discovers he has cancer and undergoes a tumultuous struggle to overcome this terrible disease. Will he be lucky enough to get a second chance at life? Or should he prepare himself and his family for the worst – death? Follow this inspiring journey through Tumor, a fascinating book written by Ira D. Wasserman.
David Wesner is a typical 40 something New Yorker. He commutes daily to his job as a computer analyst for a Wall Street company and enjoys playing tennis at the local club. One morning he wakes up with severe back pain. Over time his condition is diagnosed as kidney cancer. The results launch Dave and his wife, Sandra on an emotional and physical roller-coaster ride through the world of medical oncology. He endures surgery, takes experimental drugs, attends support groups, wrestles with religion and explores alternative treatments – all while becoming a father for the first time. He worries about his job, his family, health insurance and death. As his prognosis deteriorates from good to poor, his last hope for survival rests on an experimental therapy developed by a dedicated government researcher. Will it work? Or has the end of life come for David Wesner?
Tumor is a compelling story of one man as his life hangs in the balance between survival and death. It has interwoven mystery and intrigue as Dave seeks to find out why his cancer wasn’t discovered sooner. It also pays homage to the thousands of scientists, researchers and technicians working tirelessly behind the scenes to find a cure for cancer. This poignant story depicts the turbulent struggle of one who fights to overcome this terrible disease, yet must accept the possibility of succumbing to it.
